A British tourist had her leg severed when a New York taxi lost control and veered onto the pavement, according to reports.
Sian Green is believed to have been with a friend in midtown Manhattan, when a yellow taxi veered across the street and struck her.
Surgeons at the city’s Belleveue Hospital were battling to reattach her lower leg, which was severed in the accident.
Eye witness reports suggested the taxi driver may have been involved in an altercation with a cyclist before the accident.
