GROUND services wholesaler Albatross Travel Group has acquired 75% of specialist cruise operator Seafarer Cruising and Sailing for an undisclosed sum.
The remaining shareholding will stay in the hands ofSeafarer’s managing director Chris Lorenzo and his wife, marketing manager Linley Lorenzo, who previously owned the cruise companyoutright.
The company will continue to carry out its existing operations under the Seafarer name, but it will also set up a new brand called Albatross Cruises to offer cruising product to Albatross’ clients.
Dorset-based Seafarer, which has a total staff of seven, is the general sales agent for Mediterranean cruiseline Golden Sun Cruises and yacht operators Zeus Cruises and Galileo Cruises.
Seafarer is also a tour operator with a programme of small ship and cruise under sailholidays.
Albatross, which is based in Kent and has a 50-strong workforce, sells a range of ground services and holiday packages to coach operators and group organisers.
Its present distribution base covers the UK, Australia, the US and Austria.
