The good summer weather which hit forward bookings at Aer Lingus in July continued into last month.
This resulted in a drop in short haul carryings by 0.8% to just over 1 million against August last year.
Overall passenger numbers at the Irish carrier edged up by 0.9% to more than 1.1 million in August.
The airline said today: “We previously noted in our 2013 first half results outlook statement that good weather conditions in July had somewhat eroded our forward booking profile. The impact of this is reflected in our August short haul figures.”
Long haul passengers rose by 17.5% to 121,000 over August 2012.
