Special packages launched for Visit Malaysia Year

Tour operators are introducing a range of special packages to mark Visit Malaysia Year 2014.

The tourist board hopes the fourth Visit Malaysia Year will boost visitor numbers to the region. Malaysia saw total of 402,207 UK visitors last year and is targeting 475,000 UK visitors for 2014.

Visiting the UK last week, new tourism minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz said all the last three Visit Malaysia Years had resulted in a boost in visitor numbers.

Special packages are available through 14 operators including Kuoni, Gold Medal, Hayes and Jarvis and Travelbag. For example, Kuoni has seven nights at the 5-star Pangkor Laut Resort from £1,299 per person, with departures from November 18-28.

Aziz said: “We have developed these packages to highlight the diversity and uniqueness of Malaysia. Now we need agents to promote them to their clients. We have special incentives and an online training programme to support it.”

The minister also launched Malaysia’s Cultural Week, a festival taking place on London’s South Bank with an entertainment programme and craft stalls.
