Travel accountancy firms scoop prestigious industry gongs

Two travel accountancy firms walked off with major industry awards this week.

MacIntyre Hudson was named the national firm of the year in the British Accountancy 2013 Awards while elman Wall scooped the independent firm of the year in London and best employer nationwide awards at the event on Wednesday night.

Rakesh Shaunak, MacIntyre Hudson’s chairman, said: “We are delighted to have been awarded National Firm of the Year.

“It is a recognition of our strategy and continued growth by our peers. Everybody at the firm worked really hard to achieve this and I am really proud of the business we have built.”

On Elman Wall’s success, judges commented: “The firm showed itself to be outstanding, and excelling when the travel game has been particularly hard.”

This follows managing director Jonathan Wall being awarded managing partner of the year last month by the 2020 Innovation Group which provides support to more than 500 accounting firms.

Elman Wall works with more than 130 travel firms from all sectors of the industry, runs master classes with trade associations and initiated the annual Travel Directors’ Summit for owners of private travel businesses.

Summit Advisory, its in-house advisory arm, helps travel business owners grow, acquire or sell their businesses.

Wall said: “We have always tried to be truly excellent in the way we look after our travel clients and in recruiting and developing an exceptional team of talented people.

“To have won both these awards on the same night is a much appreciated recognition from our peers that we are on the right track and that our sector specialism is highly valued by our travel clients.”
