The Midcounties Co-operative has achieved a two-star rating and a place on the Sunday Times ‘25 Best Big Companies to Work For’ list, for the fourth consecutive year.
The Society will find out where it is ranked in 2014, with the results due to be announced on February 27 at an awards ceremony in London.
The Midcounties Co-operative climbed to 13th place last year, up from 24th position in 2012 and 2011.
‘The Best Companies to Work For’ accreditation is awarded following an employee feedback survey, in recognition of organisations which have high levels of employee engagement.
The two-star rating, which puts The Midcounties Co-operative in the ‘outstanding’ category of the Sunday Times poll, comes shortly after the Society announced that it had achieved its best-ever result in an independently-managed annual staff survey, with an engagement score of 80 out of 100.
The Warwick-based Society employs more than 9,000 staff across eight trading groups including travel.
The ‘Best Companies’ accreditation follows the elite ‘Michelin-star’ style rating system. Based on staff feedback, organisations receive an index score which determines their star-rating compared to a fixed standard. The score is defined from staff responses to questions within the ‘Best Companies’ survey, which assesses all areas of the employment experience, including leadership, personal development, well-being and remuneration.
Chief executive Ben Reid said: “To be recognised as a top big company to work for based purely on colleague feedback is a great honour and also a significant endorsement of the co-operative values which our Society embodies.
“Our Midcounties’ colleagues are the driving force of our organisation and we remain fully committed to enhancing their working lives, providing them with the best possible support, training and career opportunities, whilst also continuing to serve our members, customers, and local communities.”
