If your clients like to get away from it all on their holidays and discover destinations where they can embark on an adventure far from the tourist crowds, then Central Bulgaria could be just for them.
At the heart of this small country you will find everything you need to relax, have fun and discover rich history and culture – so head straight for the centre and the towns of Gabrovo, Tryavna and Seylievo.
With its remarkable architecture and historical monuments, the country’s first modern school and one of the most beautiful stone bridges in Bulgaria, Gabrovo is considered one of the centres of the Bulgarian Revival.
The town is also home to the unique House of Humor and Satire, which houses works of art from more than 170 countries and is completely in keeping with the locals’ reputation for their good humour and cheerfulness.
For those who want to experience the colour of life during the Bulgarian Revival, the Etar (right) is an architectural-ethnographic complex where time seems to have stopped and craftsmen show off their legendary skills.
Venturing farther afield, Bozhentsi is a charming village situated 16km outside of Gabrovo which has been denoted an architectural and historical reserve and is guaranteed to enchant.
The town’s old cobblestone streets and its Revival houses, craftsmen’s workshops and traditional pubs create a unique atmosphere of days long gone.
Tryavna is another town which offers modern conveniences in an atmosphere which will transport you 200 years back in time.
The epitome of a typical Bulgarian Revival settlement, it offers visitors the opportunity to wander along its picturesque streets before drinking a cup of fragrant coffee at the Captain Dyado Nikola Square – the only Revival square in Bulgaria entirely preserved as it once was.
In the third of these magical towns, Sevlievo, you will remain under the spell of the charming stone bridges, the clock tower and the Revival churches St. Prorok Iliya and Sveta Troitsa.
Tabahana is a perfectly preserved and restored workshop for leather processing which is well worth a visit, and nearby lies a unique archaeological site at a former military fort which is now the Medieval Town and Fortress Hotalich outdoor museum.
Once you have visited these three towns, it is essential to experience the dramatic landscapes which surround them.
There are many legends about the Stara Planina mountain range, and you can get to know it and experience the stunning nature of Central Bulgaria for yourself on foot, bicycle or horseback.
And for adrenaline junkies, activities such as mountain biking and snowshoe hiking will challenge anyone’s adventurous spirits.
If you or your clients wonder where to spend a free weekend, then accept the invitation and receive a warm welcome in the centre of Bulgaria – Gabrovo, Tryavna and Sevlievo.
