Aer Lingus reports January carryings up 2%

Aer Lingus saw a 2% rise in passenger numbers in January.

Numbers flown increased to 651,000, although short-haul passengers dropped by 1% to 513,000.

The Irish airline saw long-haul passengers increase by 7.3% to 59,000 over January 2013.

The overall load factor was up by 1.9 percentage points to 66.5%.

The Aer Lingus Regional arm increased carryings by 21.5% to 79,000 from 65,000 in the month.
