Turkey switches on e-visa system

A new $20 electronic visa system for travellers to Turkey, which aims to combat long queues at airports, is now available.

The new system becomes compulsory from April 10. Until then, travellers can continue to pay for a visa on arrival in Turkey.

Applications for a new e-visa can be made up to three months before departure until 24 hours before travel.

Cruise passengers will not need an e-visa if they are spending less than 72 hours in a Turkish city. Tour operators will be able to apply for group e-visas. Apply for a visa at evisa.gov.tr
