Hotelbeds reveals growth plans for Americas region

Hotelbeds plans to extend the sale of transfers, activities and experiences under the Activities brand as part of growth plans for the Americas region.

It claims to offer “complete solutions” to the travel industry through class-leading technology to target growth in the mobile channel.

The business is already a leading distributor of these services, offering more than 8,000 transfers and 12,000 activity options in 110 countries.

The plans were unveiled as the Tui-owned bedbank revealed growth of more than 20% in room nights sold across the Americas in the current financial year as both a source market and destination.

Hotelbeds is further expanding its business in the region across over 100 source markets globally.

Its top five destination cities in the US are Orlando, New York, Las Vegas, Miami and Los Angeles. Washington and Las Vegas were the fastest-growing destinations last year, with a rate of 50% and 41% of growth over 2012 respectively.

Hotelbeds’ main source markets for US are Argentina, the UK, Brazil, Spain and domestic. The top destinations for US as a source market are the UK, US domestic, Italy, Spain and Mexico.

As part of strengthening the company’s presence in the Americas, Hotelbeds is also signing preferred partnership agreements with leading hotels, helping to secure differentiated offering and price advantages.

The growth plans were strengthened by last year’s acquisition of US accommodation wholesaler JBS specialising in China as a source market.

Hotelbeds plans to build “prosperous relationships” with tour operators and travel distributors in China for travel to the US.

The details emerged at the International Pow Wow 2014 trade show in Chicago.

Regional managing director Enric Noguer said: “We hope to continue replicating our success from past years in 2014, starting with our ambitious growth plans in the USA.

“We are already registering impressive growth rates in the USA and Brazil, both being principal markets for our region.”
