VisitBritain is looking for a “strategic thinker” to replace current chief executive Sandie Dawe.
Chairman Christopher Rodrigues said the candidate would also have to understand the partnershipsVisitBritain operates. He said Dawe would be a hard act to follow, having achieved everything she set out to do in terms of growth.
“It would be great if the candidate has experience of working with the government,” he said. “Because they then understand how it all works. But that involvement with the government and the civil service won’t be suited for everyone.
“They have to be good with strategy because that’s a big part of the role and they have to have an understanding of our partnerships and an ability to work in partnership with others.”
Dawe will be leaving the role in June or July and it is hoped a replacement is able to start by September at the latest.
Speaking about Dawe’s time with Visit Britain, Rodrigues said: “She has been a rip-roaring success. She is very good with people, and she is very clear thinking and determined.”
