Six travel firms in Profit Track 100 list

Six travel firms have been ranked among the top 100 private companies showing the fastest profit growth in the past year.

Wholesaler Jac Travel took 26th place with annual average profit growth over three years of more than 70%, according to the Sunday Times BDO Profit Track 100. Profits rose to £8.1 million in 2013.

GM Communications, trading as Miki Travel, made 37th position with an average three-year profit growth of 61.83%. Profit came in at £14.2 million in 2012.

Online travel agency On the Beach was 63rd on the list with three-year annual profit growth of 51.31%. Profits for last year were up to £8.5 million.

Tour operator Great Rail Journeys made 86th position with three-year annual profit growth of 46.84%. The York-based company achieved profits of £8.9 million in 2013.

Travel Counsellors came in 92nd place with three-year annual profit growth of 45.01%. Profits increased to £5.4 million in 2013.

Attraction tickets firm Leisure Pass Group took 100th position with average annual profit growth over three years of 41.41%. Profits came in at £10.4 million in 2013.
