OPERATORS are taking advantage of reduced rates at a range of New York hotels as business demand drops during the summer holiday period.
Infinity Tours features discounts at a dozen properties in the Big Apple (see News in Brief), while Travel 4 has cut £20 per person off room rates at various hotels up to five-star level. At the lower end, Travel 4 has reduced the price of nightly stays at the St Moritz from £62 per person to £42; and at the Park Central from £73 to £50, twinshare, until September 7.
The four-star Marriott Eastside is offered at £71 instead of the normal £94 per person tariff, to August 28, and the five-star New York Palace rate is dropped from £146 to £122 until September 6.
Travel 4 product manager Louise Davis said: “There is a trend in the US domestic market to move away from the cities during the summer months, which enables UK operators to negotiate a broad range of discounted hotel rates. It’s well timed for UK travellers to visit New York for the summer sales, and many clients are likely to upgrade their standard of accommodation to take advantage of these rates.”
During the summer period, Travel 4 is also offering return air fares to New York from £300 with United Airlines and British Airways, both of which are gross commissionable at 10% to agents.
