NEW POST FOR POVEY
Lunn Poly has appointed marketing director Peter Povey to the new position of customer innovations director. Reporting to managing director Nigel David, Povey will be responsible for developing sub brands, including the new interactive holiday shop Getaway which opened in Coventry on June 30. A new marketing director will be appointed.
ITT AGREEMENT
Institute of Travel and Tourism members have finally agreed on a new set of rules after months of disagreement. At their latest extraordinary general meeting, 307 backed the revised Articles of Association with just four voting against. There were no abstentions.
FREEDOM DIRECTOR
Freedom Direct has appointed former Lincoln Travel chairman and managing director Neil Lincoln as non-executive director. Lincoln has been on gardening leave since July 1996 when he left Lincoln Travel after a management buy-out. He will head up the opening of a new call centre in Durham for Freedom which is to create 20 jobs. Further centres are due to open next year in Leeds and Nottingham.
MANISCALCO RETURNS
Tony Maniscalco is back working for Mundi Color just three months after quitting the company. He joined Cadogan Holidays in the new role of sales and marketing director in April but resigned 28 days into his job for personal reasons.
CONVENTION TRADE
ABTA has received 465 bookings for its Convention in Queensland in November. Bookings for non-members open on Thursday.
