Broadway Travel has confirmed that it has acquired Travel Interaction, the online travel firm which owns brands including Qwerty Travel and Travel Wasp.
The deal was first revealed by Travel Weekly last week, although the detail of the acquisition had yet to be confirmed.
The companies have now officially announced the acquisition, made for Travel Interaction’s balance sheet value, with Travel Interaction founder Matt Somers joining the Broadway board as group sales director as part of the deal.
Somers will also continue to run Travel Interaction, which will operate as a separate brand within the Broadway portfolio.
Adam Pardini, Broadway Travel managing director, said: “Matt has a tremendous amount of sales, management and travel experience so I’m delighted that he’s chosen to move forward as part of Broadway. His appointment will, I know, prove to be of benefit to us all.”
Somers added: “Travel Interaction remains a profitable business, and this deal will now provide a long-term stability which will enable the company to grow and flourish in what is presently a very challenging sector of the market.
“I believe that Broadway Travel has positioned itself very well to achieve great future success, and this is a very exciting opportunity for everyone involved.”
Travel Interaction will officially start trading as part of the Broadway group on December 1.
