Prestige Holidays can’t teach Cadogan to suck eggs…

Many thanks to John Dixon of Prestige Holidays (Travel Weekly Letters June 21) on his words of advice on how my company should support independent agents.

To think that I thought Cadogan was doing rather well!Clearly the fact that we only managed to take 1,200 agents on educationals last year, entertained a further 2,600 at roadshows, clocked-up 2,400 visits to agencies, have 1,600 travel clerks in our Privilege Club, spent more than £40,000 on 50:50 advertising, gave commission of 12%-18% and helped 300 agents with their personal holidays does not cut much ice with him.

I will not bother to list all the trade awards Cadogan received last year, but let us say that Iam considering appointing a full-time polisher to keep them shining.

But having humbly considered John’s advice, I would ask him to take a bit in return. When it comes to Prestige’s booking forms, it might be a good idea if the company withdrew the names and addresses of three travel agencies which appear on them – particularly as they are owned by Prestige. That could easily annoy agents in general.

Just a helpful thought.
