George takes front plaice as operator scales new heights

GOOD Cod! A brochure with a difference landed on the Backchat desk this week as the usual sunshine scenes and deliriously happy families were replaced by a Égoldfish.

The offending operator, Club Travel 2000, is at a total loss to give even a half decent explanation for the appearance of the scaly, memory-challenged water dweller. His giant eyes, however, represent surprise at seeing such low prices, Backchat was informed.

“Most brochures are pretty much the same. They’re all sunshine and smiles,” said sales and marketing director Ian Scott, as if sunshine and smiles are the last things you think of when it comes to bookingholidays.

“We wanted some differentiation and a cover that would really grab the attention.”

Then came the final insult – “I think George the gobsmacked goldfish fits the bill pretty well.”
