Agents urged to use social media during Clia Cruise Week

This year’s Clia Cruise Week will see social media take a central role with travel agents playing a key part in highlighting the attractions of cruise holidays to newcomers in particular.

Cruise Week has been confirmed for September 19-27 with a focus on new-to-cruise consumers.

Social media activities will showcase the many destinations covered by cruises and the level of activities and entertainment available on board ships.

Clia UK & Ireland director Andy Harmer (pictured) said: “We had a phenomenal response to our social media activity last year, reaching more than seven million Twitter users alone.

“I believe that 2015 can be bigger and better, particularly as we have new ships launching dedicated to the UK market which will further stimulate interest in cruising.”

He added: “As an industry, we need to maximise every opportunity to highlight the diversity of cruise holidays and Clia Cruise Week provides a tremendous platform for travel agent members to talk about cruise, particularly to those who are yet to cruise, whilst maximising their sales.”
