Scheme: LA Travel Academy.
Operation: September 1999 to July 2000.
Participants: 200 agents in first year.
Programme: complimentary four days, with morning sessions at UCLA campus, Los Angeles, and afternoon site visits to various destinations. Accommodation, flights, meals and activities included.
Sponsors: LA CVB, American Airlines, BA, United Airlines, Virgin Atlantic, Premier Holidays, BA Holidays, United Vacations, plus one other operator.
Selection: by sponsors.
Benefits: on completion, certificate signed by LA CVB and UCLA qualifying participant as a LA County Specialist. Updated on product developments through special newsletters and listed on website home page as various agent contacts for consumers accessing the Internet. Reunions and follow-up seminars planned.
