Universal to upgrade Harry Potter ride at Hollywood park

Universal is to upgrade the main ride in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter attraction when it launches at its Hollywood park in spring 2016.

The Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey ride will feature high-definition 3D technology, with riders wearing 3D glasses inspired by the fictional sport of Quidditch.

Speaking at the IPW conference in Orlando, Universal bosses also implied that the equivalent ride at the original Wizarding World of Harry Potter attraction at Universal Orlando Resort would also be upgraded following the work at the Hollywood park.

Mark Woodbury, president of Universal creative, said the new technology would allow riders to go ‘deeper’ into the attraction, and added: “They will be propelled right into the action instead of just watching it.”
