EUROTUNNEL managed to contact 75% of passengers who had booked day-trip tickets to warn them not to travel during the strike which crippled cross-channel services.
The company said it used staff from every department to hit the phones and e-mail lists to warn passengers of the delays.
Eurotunnel services ground to a halt over the last Bank Holiday weekend when French train crews walked out over pay and conditions and blockaded the toll booths at the operator’s Calais terminal Coquelles. Talks between management and unions continued through the week following the Bank Holiday until the situation was resolved on June 3.
