Galileo UK puts final touches to new-look corporate division

GALILEO UK has completed the restructure of its business travel services division with the appointment of a business manager for products.

Cindy Butterworth has responsibility for all aspects of Galileo products and services including service delivery and customer relations.

Butterworth, formerly director of subscriber product marketing at Galileo International, will work alongside Galileo UK business manager for Internet and new media Bettina Rideout and Ann Mclaren who is business manager for Icanos, Galileo UK’s sister company. The restructure came about after Galileo UK was split last year to form two separate divisions, Chameleon its training division, and Icanos, its technology development arm.

Galileo UK managing director Mike Thorne said the aim of the restructure is to provide a slicker, more flexible service for Galileo UK’s business travel clients.

He said:”Traditionally we have taken our product out and tried to sell it in the marketplace, but we were not offering the customers the right types of product.

“We decided to target specific markets and be more flexible. These three managers all have good product knowledge, good feel for the market and good commercial experience and are all focused on different products and market sectors. They are also concerned with price, how to develop new products and what it will cost.

“Hopefully our corporate clients will start to see us delivering products much quicker, and products which are very targeted and very relevant to their particular needs. We will be much slicker.”

One of the areas which will be expanded is Galileo UK’s intranet service.

Thorne added: “Currently it is only accessed by our employees, but the next phase will be to allow our business customers to get on the Internet and access information about our products, place orders for them and check things on-line.”
