Rapper Pitbull is selected as Norwegian Escape’s godfather

Norwegian Cruise Line has selected rapper Pitbull as the godfather for its new ship Norwegian Escape.

On November 9 the rapper, real name Armando Christian Perez, will become the honorary godfather of the ship. He will also perform at the christening ceremony in Miami.

The ship, which will be unveiled to the UK trade later this month, will homeport year-round in Miami.

The line said that the selection of Pitbull as a godfather “reinforces Norwegian’s non-traditional cruising” style.

Andy Stuart, president of the line, said: “Pitbull has been an excellent partner and great friend to Norwegian Cruise Line.

“A Miami native, he epitomizes and contributes to the energy, excitement and local flavour that our ships so proudly embody and we’re excited to build upon our relationship and have him serve in this special role as godfather to Norwegian Escape.
