Belgium rail strike forces Eurostar to cancel services

A national rail strike in Belgium today is forcing Eurostar services on the Brussels route to suspend operations in Lille.

The channel tunnel high speed passenger service is also working to a reduced timetable with three return services between London St Pancras and Lille cancelled.

Only one train is expected to run from London to Brussels at 7.34pm tonight.

Most international high-speed trains between Belgium, the UK, France, Germany and Holland have been cancelled due to the industrial action.

The strike, being staged in protest over working conditions, began last night and will run until this evening (Friday).
