Princess Cruises is offering low deposits of £50 for 2016 to tie in with its 50th anniversary.
The cruise line has joined other travel companies such as Thomas Cook by offering very low deposits for the new year sales period. Previously these were only available on selected cruises rather than all itineraries.
Tony Roberts, vice president, Princess Cruises UK, said: “Christmas is an expensive time but with only a £50 deposit per person, guests can book a cruise with Princess Cruises without breaking the bank.”
The deposits are valid on bookings made before February 29 for bookings for 2016.
In the past low deposits have been regarded as a risky strategy because clients cancel at a later date because the deposits are so low.
Princess has recently changed its terms and conditions which means that any bookings cancelled after 48 hours will lose the deposit.
The line is also offering a range of reduced fares and 50% off on third and fourth passengers sharing the same stateroom.
Cruises for 2016 include the recently refitted Emerald Princess, which is offering 15 round-trip cruises from Southampton to the Mediterranean and northern Europe from three to 14 nights from April to September. Prices start from £245 for a three night Channel Island sampler.
Other itineraries include a trip round the British Isles during the spring and summer on 12 night cruises on Royal Princess out of Southampton.
