FORTLauderdale is teaming up with Airtours to promote the operator’s new charter service from Manchester to the destination starting next year.
The two are planning a pre-World Travel Market agents’ roadshow to visit Leeds, Manchester and Birmingham to advertise the weekly Boeing 767 service beginning next May.
The new service will provide the city with its first direct flight from the UK since Laker Airways’ ex-Gatwick service stopped in January 1998.
Fort Lauderdale’s UKrepresentative Damian O’Grady said: “We expect that 60% of arrivals will stay put in the Fort Lauderdale area and the rest will use it as a gateway to Miami, the Keys and Southern Florida.”
Airtours features six properties in Fort Lauderdale in its 2000 Florida programme.
