THETRULY Independent Professional Travel Organisation has barred five tour operators with links to major multiples or operators from attending its inaugural meeting tomorrow.
The five companies, which TIPTO said had all shown interest in the meeting, are Cresta Holidays, Thomson Breakaway, Magic Travel Group, Something Special and Simply Travel.
TIPTO founder and Cadogan Holidays managing director Gary David said: “They are aligned to big operators and travel agency chains. They already have their own distribution networks.
“There wouldn’t be a need for TIPTO if we weren’t seeing a significant drop in our business from the multiples. We are petrified that one day the multiples will drop us.”
A total of 104 tour operators will be attending, including Cosmos, Travelscene, French Life Holidays, Jetset Tours and Keycamp Holidays.
