Jamie Loizou has joined AmaWaterways as director of sales, marketing and digital.
Loizou worked previously at Trafalgar, Insight Vacations, Uniworld and luxury cruise specialist Mundy.
He said his appointment is part of the continual growth of the UK team and said his marketing experience will work hand-in-hand with sales at AmaWaterways.
“I used to sell AmaWaterways so I feel like I understand who the customers are and have a good understanding of who we can work with too,” he said.
“We’re assembling a larger team as we go forward and want to reach a team of 14 by the end of the year.
“I think agents and the trade need to be communicated with in a number of ways, most importantly keeping on top of technology so this will be encompassed within the digital aspect of my role.
“I’ll be looking to improve our social media and really use it to speak to the trade as well as improving our digital training platform and the website itself.”
AmaWaterways is set to launch its new Rhine ship the AmaKristina in early 2017.
In another change at the company, Simon McDermott has left with immediate effect after working for AmaWaterways since April 2015.
The cruise line confirmed McDermott, who was national accounts manager, has left the company to pursue other career opportunities.
Stuart Perl, managing director, said: “We would like to thank Simon for his hard work and dedication to the brand and we wish him all the best for the future.”
