Holland America Line and BBC Earth extend partnership

A tie-in between Holland America Line and BBC Earth is being expanded to all but one ship in the fleet.

The global nature-based factual brand is providing Frozen Planet Live concerts on six ships and will be introduced across other vessels with the exception of Prinsendam by March 2017.

The live performance features musicians playing a specially orchestrated musical score by award-winning composer George Fenton as images based on the BBC Earth Frozen Planet TV series are screened.

Additional activities include documentary films, game shows, trivia, children’s activities and BBC Earth feature cruises.

A new BBC Earth Alaska show will be developed for the 2017 to mark HAL’s 70th anniversary of sailing in the region. Show details will be revealed early next year.

Four feature cruises have been scheduled for 2017 where BBC Earth experts will host master classes and question-and-answer sessions.

HAL president Orlando Ashford said: “Since announcing the BBC Earth partnership, we have been looking forward to launching the programming on board; and now that it’s rolling out across the fleet it’s even more engaging and visually powerful than we imagined.

“Our guests are destination seekers with a desire to learn more and know more when they are cruising with us. ‘BBC Earth Experiences’ bring them to the most remote corners of the world in an incredibly innovative way.”
