UK operations see sales rise for all seasons

UK winter 1998/99 bookings are 7% ahead of last year, 3% ahead for summer 1999 and slightly up with enhanced selling prices for winter 1999/2000, according to Airtours offer document to First Choice shareholders.


The operator says its UK retail operations have achieved an increased level of bookings for all seasons of sales with Travelworld, acquired last December, performing “well”.


The company says its Scandinavian Leisure Group is experiencing strong demand with bookings for winter 1998/1999 7% ahead of last year. It added that bookings for summer ’99 are currently 16% ahead one year on. In the operator’s West European Leisure Group, bookings are claimed to be 39% ahead for winter ’98/’99 and 29% ahead for summer ’99.


In the group’s North American Leisure Group, bookings for winter ’98/’99 are 9% below last year. However, bookings for summer 1999 are 25% ahead of the previous year.
