LIKE some people who suddenly find a tenner in their jeans pocket, Carlson Worldchoice has literally found ú2,778 that everyone had forgotten about.
The company discovered the money as it was putting its house in order after its recent merger with Thomas Cook.
And bosses have decided that, as the money was in a charity account, it should go to the company’s preferred charity, the Family Holiday Association.
As luck would have it, Inspirations marketing manager Darren Eade was registered to run in the London marathon on Sunday as part of Travel Weekly’s Dream Team.
Since the team is raising money for the FHA, Darren has been given the money as part of his sponsorship fund. Worked out nicely, didn’t it?
A spokesman for Carlson Worldchoice said: “The money had kind of been forgotten about. Then the Thomas Cook thing happened and a controller was going through the accounts. And, hey presto, there was the money.”
But the sponsorship is not only good news for the FHA.
Darren’s chuffed too, as it vastly increases his chances of winning two British Airways Club World tickets, which will be awarded to the team member who raises the most cash.
