THE Travel Training Company relies heavily on suppliers to provide educationals, which it believes equip trainees with vital social skills as well as product training.
“We used to run our own educationals, but as funding has dropped it has become difficult,” said TTC sales development manager Janet Morgan.
She said Thomas Cook agents have to document the educational and will be expected to give a presentation to colleagues, while the TTC will be trying to find out how the agents feel selling these products now.
But she added: “We are not here just to teach travel but also communication and team work.”
Morgan admitted some agents stayed up late and were not as alert as they should have been on the trip, but said they would be more responsive now if asked about P&O North Sea Ferries or Wallace Arnold.
“The benefits are not seen immediately, but next time a customer asks what the food is like on board P&O North Sea Ferries, they will be able to answer.”
