More savings for clients as Travel Company cuts back

THETRAVEL Company is tightening up its hotel programmes in order to maximise its clients’ savings.

The agency’s operations manager Mark O’Brien said instead of negotiating special rates with, say, 10-12 hotels in a city, it was now cutting this back to two or three.

Speaking at the company’s Hotel Workshop at the Landmark Hotel, London, he said:”We are being far more proactive and focused with our clients.”

O’Brien said the group was now concentrating on the hotel sector because it had gone as far as it could go with airlines.

“The hotels have fallen a bit behind, but now they are listening to us and being far more accommodating,” he said.

The agency is currently putting together global hotel deals for three of its major clients, but O’Brien refused to say who these were.

It has already put global deals into place for Heinz, News Corporation and NatWest. The latter is run in conjunction with hotel bookings agency BSI.
