New Co-op service to reduce brochure costs

Co-op Travelcare Direct has launched a holiday brochure ordering service via the Internet in conjunction with BPTravel Trade Services.

More than 200 brochures from 55 tour operators are now available via Co-op Travelcare Direct’s Holiday Deals Web site from a wide range of operators including Cosmos, Unijet and Kuoni. More will be added shortly.

After inputting their holiday requirements, customers are presented with a selection of suitable brochures.

A maximum of five brochures is allowed which are then dispatched in a Co-op Travelcare branded pack inviting consumers to contact Co-op Travelcare’s Direct call centre to book their holidays. Any enquiry is followed up by call-centre staff to maximise sales.

Co-op Travelcare Direct Jason Edwards sales development manager said:”This is a targeted service with a limit on the number of brochures which can be ordered at any one time. These factors will ultimately help tour operators reduce costs and obtain better booking ratios, also minimising the need for large stocks of brochures at our call centre.

“Our own staff will shortly be able to access this Internet service so that they can order brochures for callers.”

The chain is also aiming to take on-line bookings on the Internet by the end of the year. The agency already has an extensive site but users have to telephone the Co-op call centre to make a booking (Travel Weekly February 10).
