UK hotel chain Stakis will add 1,000 rooms to its portfolio over the next 18 months as part of a major investmentprogramme.
The group plans to spend ú119m on new building, development and refurbishment projects during the period.
It is building hotels Milton Keynes and Glasgow at a cost of ú14m each and is undertaking major redevelopment work at hotels in Nottingham, Tewkesbury and Dunkeld (see table, left).
The ú100m extension at the Stakis London Metropole will continue and around a third of the total cost is included in the ú119m assigned for the period.
Managing director Anthony Harris said Stakis wanted to complete its programme of bringing all its properties up to four-star standard.
“We had put a number of properties up for sale but have now taken them off the market. We will be investing in these hotels to bring them up to brand standards,” he said.
