BA suffers in survey of business travellers

BRITISH Airways has performed poorly for reliability, customer service, in-flight services and quality of food, according to a survey of 2,000 business travellers.

The UK’s national carrier came bottom in a league of eight most-used airlines for reliability and joint bottom with EasyJet and Air UK for quality of food (see table above).

A BA spokeswoman said it had won several trophies recently, including the International Airline Passenger Association’s Global Travel Award.

“It is disappointing we did not fare better in Company Barclaycard’s much smaller survey but we want to point out we do regularly survey our passengers and we do make changes.”

A Virgin spokesman said:”I think this really begs the question, can BA really still use the strapline ‘the world’s favourite airline’ when it fares so badly in this study and others?”

In the poll, Virgin excelled in all areas except reliability, where it was pushed into second place by Lufthansa. Company Barclaycard marketing manager Simon Chick said it was interesting that EasyJet had entered the eight most-used airlines for the first time.
