Airtours and Thomas Cook have attacked a Holiday Which? report on tour operators which they claim is misleading and unrepresentative.
Thomas Cook’s in-house operator, Sunset, came bottom of an operator league table after Holiday Which? readers were asked which operators they would recommend. Sunworld finished two places higher, with Airtours between them. Thomson came 35th out of 50.
Only 53 of the 32,500 people surveyed had travelled with Sunset and just 350 with Sunworld. VFB topped the table, followed by Simply Travel and Travel Club of Upminster.
Thomas Cook said the survey sampled only 0.03% of the clients who travelled with Sunset and Sunworld in 1998.
Britannia Airways, Airtours International and the now-defunct Leisure International were among the worst performers for airline punctuality.
