n Three more for Holiday Hypermarket



Holiday Hypermarket is to open new branches in Cardiff, Staines and Greenford, Middlesex. The sites, due to be opened by the end of March, are part of the retailer’s plans to develop 20 new locations by the end of the yearfollowing its tie-up with First Choice. It already has sites in Walsall, Telford, Bolton, Wolverhampton, Salford and Southampton.



n seat sale bonanza from british midland



British Midland is slashing ú10m off seat prices on Thursday for the launch of its biggest fare sale to date. It claims there are a 300,000 tickets available on 33 routes up to January 28. Fares lead-in at ú49 return from Heathrow to destinations including Dublin, Paris andManchester. Usual prices are around ú15 higher.



n new safety director joins eurotunnel



Eurotunnel has appointed a new safety director to replace Clive Durrant who has retired. Ian Scott will head up Eurotunnel’s safety directorate having left global conglomerate Dupont de Nemours International, where he was European director of health and safety for 12 years.



n ETB conference todiscuss grading plan



An English Tourist Board conference will discuss whether a compulsory assessment scheme for tourist accommodation should be set up. The present grading scheme is voluntary. The conference will be held at the Millennium Gloucester Hotel in London on January 21.
