THEFOREIGN Office is funding a ú9,000 campaign aimed at persuading the travel industry to join the offensive against child sex tourism.
The Government has given the money to the End Child Pornography and Trafficking pressure group, which is urging tour operators and travel agents to tell their clients what to do if they see anything suspicious on holiday.
Companies are being asked to advise customers to report their suspicions to a British embassy while abroad, or call a Crimestoppers number.
ECPATtourism campaign co-ordinator Chris Beddoe said she would be organising meetings and sending letters to companies over the next two months. She is targeting tour operators in particular, because they have more contact with clients when they are abroad.
