n Co-op Travelcare introduces incentive



Co-opTravelcare’s parent CWS has introduced an incentive for its dividend cardholders who book through its Co-op Travelcare direct division. Cardholders who book selected holidays through the direct arm will be paid 1% of the value of that holiday which can be taken as cash or spent on another holiday or CWS food products. The offer will be heavily promoted in the 600-plus CWS stores across the UK.



n Britannic Travel expands UK network



Brittanic Travel is expanding its 31-strong UKnetwork by opening offices in Peterborough and Ipswich in the next five weeks. The Surrey-based business travel agency plans to open a third office in the second quarter of the year but would not disclose the location at this stage.



n WTM scheme helps to lift visitor numbers



WorldTravel Market’s complimentary preregistration for the trade helped boost the number of visitors by 26% to 31,434 in 1998. The jump from the previous year’s attendance was also helped by WTM’s launch of its Discovery scheme for agents. The preregistration initiative on the two trade days increased trade numbers by 60% to 17,370.



n WTB appoints new chief executive



The Wales Tourist Board has promoted communications and corporate affairs director Jonathan Jones to chief executive. Jones replaces John French who has taken early retirement (Travel Weekly November 11 1998).
