Operator introduces user friendly format to ’99 brochure

CLUB Med has introduced a more user friendly format for its Summer-Autumn ’99 brochure.

Club Med’s UK and Ireland operation managing director, Alex El Kayem, said:”It is now clear which resorts have children’s clubs and there is a clear price indication so people know what to expect.”

A new grading system – based on one to four tridents – has also been introduced which describes what is on offer village by village. “We wanted to clarify the product,” he said.

Prices have been reduced by up to 30% in the shoulder season with single supplements scrapped in certain villages, 10% discounts for extra weeks and 25% off honeymoon packages. New sports include water polo, basketball and Tai Chi. Early-booking discounts include up to ú199 off family holidays.

For its Spring/Summer 1999 season, the operator has lined up 56 villages with kids’ clubs.

Club Med has also revamped its youth product, with foam parties and techno crazy afternoons on the beach at its seven adult-only villages.

n The operator is planning to launch its Discovery Tours (Club Med Decouverte) programme in the UK next year. It will tailor the programme to the English market by recruiting English-speaking guides and bring out an English language brochure. Trips range from tours of China to Nile cruises.

Club Med also plans to open new villages in Cuba, Tunisia and Taba on Egypt’s Red Sea by the end of 2001.
