Regional airports to benefit from shared check-in service

AVIS and British Airways will expand their shared check-in service to regional airports later this year.

The first shared check-in was launched at Heathrow last year after Avis and BA signed a preferred partnership deal. It allows clients to return a car and check-in for their flight at the same time. Clients are then taken by courtesy bus to their terminal.

A spokesman for Avis said the facility is so popular that there are plans to offer something similar at key regional UK airports, and possibly key overseas hubs, later this year. Opening hours of the Heathrow check-in have just been extended by 2hrs in the morning, to 6am Sunday to Friday to meet demand.
