First Choice

Brochure: Turkey

Agents’ verdict: “A nice looking brochure which feels a bit more upmarket than some.”

“It is easy to follow with lots of clear information on the many different resorts.”

“The system is not always the easiest to search but it is pretty quick and easy to book.”

“Clients ask for this programme by name and it does generate a lot of repeat bookings.”

“It is often more expensive than others but clients seem happy to pay the extra because they rate the quality of the accommodation and the representatives.”

“The operator has a broad product range – from budget to high class.”

“Administration and brochure supplies are generally fine – although we do find that it can be hard to contact them if we find that there is a problem.”

Airtours

Brochure: Turkey.

Agents’ verdict: “A clearly laid-out brochure but not overly inspiring. Could do with a bit more information on the resorts.”

“Booking is very quick and easy through the system and it has become easier to get through on the phone.”

“Accommodation is usually good – especially the budget accommodation which is a fair quality for a very cheap price.”

“Clients know the name but worry about the quality – I generally reassure them because my personal experience has been that they are good.”

JMC

Brochure: Turkey.

Agents’ verdict: “A good looking brochure which I like a lot. Easy to read and lots of descriptions which make life very easy – especially if you have never been to Turkey yourself.”

“A broad product range from two to five star.”

“Clients ask for this by name as they are intrigued by all the publicity.”

“Booking is easy on the system but getting through on the phone is hard.”

“A lot of the late deal accommodation seems to have building works going on – but JMC do make this clear.”

Unijet

Brochure: Turkey.

Agents’ verdict: “This brochure looks interesting and has plenty of information. Booking is quick and easy through the system although phoning is awful – I’ve queued on the phone for over an hour before now.”

“Product is usually competitive and we rarely get any complaints although this is not one we sell a great deal. A good range for large families because there seem to be plenty of two-bedroom properties.”

“Administration is fine but brochure supplies are slow.”

“OK but not one we use first.”

in brief

We ask four high-street travel agents for their views of current operator programmes and services. For this week’s review we called agents in and around Solihull, West Midlands, to get their views on programmes to Turkey. Agents reported that Turkey was particularly popular with couples and that although it was a destination which sometimes generated complaints, thesewere not usuallyaimed at the operators. See how JMC, Unijet, First Choice and Airtours performed under the spotlight.
