The British Tourist Authority and British Incoming Tour Operators Association will be promoting sports tourism at the upcoming Arabian Travel Market 2000 at the Dubai World Trade Center in Dubai, May 2-5.


n switzerland sets up information line


Switzerland Tourism has launched a toll-free information number for agents and tourists. By calling 008 100 200 30, agents and travellers can speak to a consultant Monday to Friday for details on destinations, hotels and rail schedules, special events and rail tickets.


n STB URGES TRADE TO EMBRACE THE INTERNET


Scottish Tourist Board chief executive Tom Buncle has called on the industry to embrace the Internet. Speaking at Scotland’s Travel Fair in Glasgow, he said: “The Internet ande-commerce are redefining the way the industry interacts with its customers and Scotland needs to be leading that process.”
