Abta is highlighting the best places for winter sun breaks as new research found almost half of people plan overseas getaways over the period.
The latest study by the travel association revealed that 46% have booked or are considering taking a winter holiday this year – a proportion higher than before the pandemic.
The projection came as the government’s red list drops to just seven countries and the Foreign Office relaxes its travel advice for dozens of long-haul destinations.
Today’s travel changes follow the introduction of a simplified system for international travel and relaxed testing requirements for fully vaccinated travellers and children.
This will make it easier and cheaper to book an overseas holiday this October half-term and into the winter, according to Abta.
On the back of the relaxation of travel rules, the association has listed its top picks for winter sun – the Canary Islands, Turkey, Dubai, Babados, Jamaica, the Maldives and Mauritius.
