Carol Hay stepping down from Caribbean Tourism Organisation UK and Europe role

Long-standing Caribbean Tourism Organisation UK and Europe business development director Carol Hay is leaving her role.

She is being replaced from March 1 by Florian Valmy-Devillers.

Hay has 25 years’ industry experience, including a spell with the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority from 2006 to 2009, the CTO between 2009 and 2020, and subsequently representing the CTO Chapter UK and Europe.

Valmy-Devillers has gained experience working on tourism projects in France, Malta, Costa Rica, South Africa and Indonesia and steps up from the role of business development manager.

Chapter chairman Colin Pegler said: “We will miss Carol immensely, as she has a massive wealth of knowledge on Caribbean tourism and has contributed so much to the Caribbean’s tourism marketing success across the UK and Europe.

“However, we understand the urge to embrace new challenges and wish her all the best in her upcoming endeavours.”

He added: “We are also delighted that Florian will take up the reigns to lead the Chapter across UK and Europe.

“Florian’s growth has been impressive, having joined the Caribbean Tourism Organisation as a graduate intern six years ago.

“He was subsequently promoted to marketing executive, and when Carol’s company McKenzie Gayle Limited was awarded the contract to manage the CTO Chapter UK and Europe, he was appointed as business development manager.

“With Florian’s passion, commitment, tech savviness and hands-on experience, he was the ideal choice to take the Chapter forward.”

Valmy Devillers added: “Having worked very closely with Carol for the past six years, I am honoured to continue working with the Caribbean tourism partners as we surge towards recovery.

“We have an exciting and innovative programme for 2022, and look forward to collaborating with our member and partners as we fulfil our mission to drive business to the Caribbean.”
