Ex-Expedia founding member joins Jet2 board

A founding member of Expedia is one of two high profile non-executive directors appointed by Jet2.

Simon Breakwell, who started as a graduate at British Airways, moved to Seattle to become one of the founding executives of the online travel giant in 1996.

He went on to launch Uber in Europe, is a former board member of online vacation marketplace HomeAway and ex-chief executive of the AA.

Breakwell currently chairs online attraction tickets business Tiqets and joins the Jet2 board on April 27.

Angela Luger, a former Asda executive and managing director of Debenhams among other roles, takes up her non-executive independent director position with the airline and tour operating group on July 3. She was a non-executive director of Manchester Airports Group for nine years.

Jet2 chairman Philip Meeson said: “We are delighted that Angela and Simon will be joining our board of directors.

“Their background is ideally suited to this stage in our development and we are confident that they will both make a significant contribution to the ongoing success of our business as we continue our focus on people, service, profits.”
