Globe Travel Awards guests raise £6,500 for Ukraine relief efforts

A charity collection at the Travel Weekly Globe Travel Awards last week raised more than £6,500 for Ukraine relief efforts.

A number of industry speakers used the ceremony to show their support, while the Red Cross was announced as the event’s charity partner by Clive Jacobs, chairman of Travel Weekly’s parent company Jacobs Media Group.

Lucy Huxley, editor-in-chief of Travel Weekly Group, said: “The first Globes since 2020 were a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the partnerships that will underpin the recovery of our industry, but they were also an opportunity to reflect on the pandemic and the atrocities which continue to affect the people of Ukraine.

“I am aware that many of our guests had already donated or supported efforts to assist in what is a growing humanitarian crisis, so I am incredibly grateful to all those who gave again to support the vital work of the Red Cross.”
