KLM doubles Asia flights in expanded summer schedule

KLM is doubling the number of flights to Asia this summer following disruptions caused by Covid-19. 

The Dutch carrier will serve 16 destinations in the region from its Amsterdam Schiphol hub from March 26 in a boost over last year’s schedule.

Operations are resuming to Hong Kong with three flights a week and a twice weekly service to Taipei via Seoul in South Korea plus daily services to Beijing and Shanghai. 

Japan is being served by twice weekly flights to Osaka and three flights a week to Tokyo, both via Seoul.

A direct Amsterdam-Tokyo service will see frequency rise from two to five flights a week from September.

KLM also serves Denpasar and Jakarta in Indonesia via Singapore, while Manila flights will run five times a week via Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia.

India is covered by a daily service to Delhi and Mumbai, and five  flights a week to Bangalore.

The KLM route network the summer will cover 163 destinations – 96 in Europe and 67 long-haul – including connections to Amsterdam from 17 UK airports : Aberdeen, Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Humberside, Inverness, Leeds-Bradford, London Heathrow, London City, Manchester, Newcastle, Norwich, Southampton and Teesside.  

KLM’s transatlantic network is being expanded to include 13 flights a week to Toronto, compared with 10 flights in 2022. The Canadian cities of Calgary, Edmonton, Montreal and Vancouver are also served.

The airline’s new Premium Comfort class is available on flights to New York, Los Angeles, Washington, Austin, Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal and Calgary as part of 18 points served across the US and Canada.

The Caribbean will see a daily service to Curacao rise to as many as ten flights a week in July and August in addition to daily links to the islands of Aruba and Bonaire.

Paramaribo, the capital of Suriname, will be served by six flights a week flights while three a week will run to Port of Spain and Sint Maarten.

Ten destinations in South America feature this summer, including Sao Paulo in Brazil, Buenos Aires in Argentina, Panama City and Costa Rica.

The schedule also includes ten points in Africa including Zanzibar via Dar es Salaam in Tanzania and daily services to Nairobi, Cape Town and Johannesburg.

Dubai and Tel Aviv will be served daily together with Kuwait with four flights a week combined with Bahrain and three with Muscat in Oman.
