South American carrier Latam has confirmed the suspension of a new route between London and Lima after just two months.
The airline told travel agents that flights between Heathrow and the capital of Peru would be stopped between February 2 and March 30 due to “operational adjustments”.
“Flights in this period and subsequent dates will be closed for sale in the system until further notice,” the notice issued on December 27 said.
The five times a week Boeing 787 service started in early December as the carrier’s second destination served direct from London.
Agents have been advised that passengers due to fly in February and March can use the airline’s Heathrow-Sao Paulo route or be re-routed via a connection in Madrid using Iberia from London.
The direct London-Lima route was heralded at launch as offering “great expectations for the future” with the airline’s hub at the Peruvian capital offering 19 domestic connections and routes to a further 30 international destinations.
